BONFIRE PLAYLIST
Sitting around a bonfire at night is one of the only occasions I can tolerate listening to country music. There is something about being accompanied by a starry night, good friends, and good conversation that seems to channel my inner Toby Keith and make my midwestern roots show. I continue to find some of my favorite country music by listening to my friends blast their favorite songs over the JBL in the summertime. Although I would never admit this to them, sometimes I find that I am unable to shake the cowboy vibe for days thereafter. My favorite country songs have a great fiddle line; the epitome, of course, being The Devil Went Down to Georgia. My least favorite ones, admittedly, are the ones that have anything to do with God, beer, or corn. I do not mind the tender ones because they have a way of sneaking up and making you feel as though you are living through a moment that you don’t want to end. I hope that the next time you find yourself sitting around a bonfire, you turn this playlist on and sing “yee-haw” and “yipee-ki-yay” late into the night.
